Record Store Day 2013

Record_Store_Day

Ah, the humble record shop. Neat rows of vinyls. Dog eared vintage finds. Bargain bins of film soundtracks and philharmonic classics. Bearded gentlemen, the soft crinkle of paper as the record is eased out of its sleeve. We love them here at MINTPack. We love them as a temple to arcane knowledge, to eclectic tastes, to preserving music as a beautiful, desirable object.

And we’re not alone. Started in 2007, Record Store Day is a celebration of the independent record store.  Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ’s, in store quizzes and many other events.

This year RDS in the UK is on the 20th of April. So take a leisurely Saturday stroll to your  record shop to join in the fun. We’ll be heading to our local Flashback for a browse through their collection of new and used vinyls and CDs. Keep an eye on their blog for in store events!
